    Adult Online Chinese

In modern society, working adults must continue to learn new knowledge. Learning Chinese has slowly become the norm, and to learn Chinese effectively it needs a longer time frame. The biggest difficulty in learning Chinese is about how to use the limited spare time especially when one need to often work overtime or travel which make working hours difficult to anticipate. It is more difficult to arrange a limited spare time. Although we already have professional private offline courses that are flexible on time arrangement sometimes the class had to be cancelled due to last-minute work schedule change and even have not enough time to pre-arranged an alternative class.

We recommend Mandarin Plus’s professional online adult Chinese courses, which we offer to students who can’t attend offline courses because of work schedule or other for reasons. We provide a Mandarin lesson online and course programme that will effectively help adults to learn conveniently anywhere. It also serves as a supplement for students who can’t attend offline courses completely. Based on our experience from past ten+ years, our teachers who are all native speakers have mastered the commonly used computer software teaching methods, and also accumulated a wealth of online teaching experience. They understand the subtle differences between an offline and online course and able to use a variety of teaching methods to bridge the differences of both learning method to achieve the same effect.

The course is divided into three stages : basic , intermediate and advanced; they stress the learner’s actual Chinese language abilities progressively.

Mandarin Plus standard Chinese language courses help learners from conversational to comprehensive advanced Mandarin course in Singapore which is inspirational and effective, easy for learners to master, suitable for students of all levels. All our Chinese tutors are with 10+ years teaching experience, native Chinese tutors for adult from all language groups in Singapore.

What is Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) ?

The HSK test was launched by China Hanban in an effort to better serve Chinese language learners. The HSK is an international standardized exam that tests and rates Chinese language proficiency. It assesses non-native Chinese speakers’ abilities in using the Chinese language in their daily, academic and professional lives. HSK consists of six levels, namely the HSK (level 1) to HSK (level 6),

What are the learning objectives for each level?

    • Beginner 1 (HSK 1) — can understand and use very simple Chinese words and phrases, meet basic needs for communication and possess the ability to further their Chinese language studies.
    • Beginner 2 (HSK 2)– have an excellent grasp of basic Chinese and can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
    • Intermediate 1(HSK 3)– can communicate in Chinese at a basic level in their daily lives; and use it in their academic and professional career. They can manage most communication in Chinese when travel in China.
    • Intermediate 2(HSK 4)– can converse in Chinese on a wide range of topics and are able to communicate fluently with native Chinese speakers.
    • Advanced 1(HSK 5)– can read Chinese newspapers and magazines, enjoy Chinese films and plays, and give a full-length speech in Chinese.
    • Advanced 2(HSK 6)– can easily comprehend written and spoken information in Chinese and can effectively express themselves in Chinese, both orally and on paper.

    What certificate you can get?

Once you have complete a course we will issue an formal achievement certificate presented by our school. Also, you may consider to take the relevant HSK test in Singapore examination center. The certificate of HSK is widely recognized internationally .  The results of the test can serve several purposes:

    2. A reference for employers’ decision-making concerning the recruitment, training and promotion of test takers.

Mandarin Plus is a good school to learn Mandarin in Singapore, they were very accommodating to my needs was eager to make arrangements for a timing suitable for my schedule.
Ms Wang is a very nice teacher, she is very patient and will adjust to the student’s capacity making sure we learn Chinese smoothly.

The teacher elaborated every word/ the composition of the word such that you understand why the word’s meaning is such. The teacher is very detailed in explaining which is good for beginner mandarin learners.

Very well structured. Good method of teaching and lot of revision , overall a very good option to start learning Chinese. The teacher was very friendly and helpful and encouraging. The group class meant that we could ask questions to each other and have conversations.

I am very pleased with the private group online Mandarin course; the course was well structured and the teacher, Ms Wang Cheng ensured that the lesson pace was well suited for the students. The usage of new vocabulary and grammar in sentence formation allowed me to familiarise and understand the language better. Ms Wang also provided us with additional resources to aid our learning. Will recommend this course to anyone looking to speak and read basic Mandarin.

I Just finished HSK 1 & HSK 2 private lessons , started back in August with Selina Lǎoshī. I had a great experience & value, & willing to learn more next year. She was very patient & kind, always flexible in her timing, & professional. Thank you 🙂

Thoroughly pleased with the value I received from my time learning at Mandarin Plus. Apart from the regular curriculum, my teacher was also very willing and able to guide me in tailoring a specific pitch that I had to prepare for a business presentation which boosted my confidence tremendously. Even my colleagues were surprised by the marked improvement of my Mandarin level. Overall, very happy with Mandarin Plus.

I finished one course of 2-people group lessons and signed up for more. Even with circuit breaker, we still do weekly Zoom tuition and the quality of the class is just as high.

Laoshi is great in that she tailors each lesson to our levels and picks vocabulary she thinks is most useful for us instead of just relying on the textbook. We have short oral presentations every week and she also provides us with extra language videos or links to supplement our learning.

I have been learning at Mandarin Plus for 5 months at classroom tuitions and online tuitions. Both are conducted by Ms.Selina effectively especially for oral practice. She is very patient and kind as well as professional. I really enjoy learning Chinese now.

I started my online Mandarin classes in April2020. I found my weekly 2 hour HSK 1 zoom classes very effective. There were 3 students and our teacher Ms. Wang Cheng created a learning atmosphere that engaged and challenged us. It motivated me to learn to write the Chinese characters as well.
The CB period pushed us to zoom classes and I have really enjoyed them. The big plus is I can do them from the comfort of my home and do not have to waste time travelling back and forth to class.

Very satisfied with my learning experience. Staff are very responsive and transparent with rates and terms. Private class teaching method was very flexible. Our professor taught extra vocabulary so that we could immediately apply it to the workplace and business context. School is easily accessible cos of CBD location. Greatly recommend for foreigners who want to learn and improve Chinese.

Selina was recommended to me by one of my friend whose son had been enjoying taking lessons with her for a few years and was very satisfied with the level he had achieved. My children are French and respectively 16 and 13 year-old. They have been learning Chinese in school as a 2nd language and needed extra-teaching hours to improve their speaking and writing skills.
My son used to say that he hated Chinese language and was really unhappy to have to learn it. However, since he has started with Selina, slightly more than a year ago, his level has not only improved substantially but now also finds Chinese interesting and do not complain anymore before going to class.
His school Chinese teacher was impressed by his progression and participation in class.
I really recommend Selina; She is an excellent Chinese tutor.

I enjoyed 16 hours of one-to-one Mandarin classes which were tailored to my level of Mandarin (rusty, primary school level) and interests. The teacher was patient, good at listening and explaining, and responded to my interest in polishing my Mandarin whilst introducing a new level of technical and modern vernacular which I sorely lacked. By using various techniques, e.g. reading conversations, increasing relevant vocab in bitesized batches, looking at current news videos or documentaries, reading news items and blogs by the younger set, I was enthusiastically reintroduced to the modern world of Mandarin. We even looked at current websites. Much of my practice material was very relevant to the current affairs. Everything we worked on was recorded and shared with me via Google Docs. Excellent.
